Future in Common Launches Public Education Toolkits to Equip Voters and Leaders for the AI Era
HYATTSVILLE, MD | July 15, 2025 — As artificial intelligence reshapes everything from jobs to public services, one civic initiative is stepping up to ensure the public doesn’t get left behind. Today, Future in Common officially launched four multimedia toolkits designed to help everyday people navigate the AI transition—and shape it for the common good.
“Decisions about AI are being made behind closed doors,” said Deion Lemelle, founder of Future in Common. “Our tools bring the conversation back to the people—because this isn’t just about technology. It’s about democracy, justice, and the future of work.”
This launch set includes four free or pay-what-you-can resources built for impact:
What’s at Stake: Voter Toolkit — A plainspoken explainer and slide deck that shows how AI is already affecting jobs, rights, and public systems—and what voters can do about it.
AI-Ready Candidate & Community Leader Toolkit — A hands-on briefing pack with talking points, roleplay exercises, and messaging support for those running for office or leading community dialogue.
The Local Frontier: State & Local Leadership Toolkit — A civic education bundle that helps local officials, organizers, and residents take informed action on AI policy from the ground up.
Borderless Futures: Immigration & Belonging Knowledge Bundle— A cultural narrative resource connecting the dots between AI, borders, and immigrant justice.
Each toolkit includes printable handouts, presentation slides, social media graphics, and usage tips to support educators, campaigners, community leaders, and the public at large.
“We’ve got 12 to 24 months to shape this future before the window closes,” said Lemelle. “This launch is about reclaiming agency before the rules are written without us.”
The toolkits are part of a broader policy and storytelling initiative called The United States of AI, a worker-centered platform developed by Future in Common to support ethical, democratic governance in the age of automation.
